counselling in Littlehampton

ACC is a registered Charity and is accredited by the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy; it complies with the BACP Ethical Framework for  the Counselling Professions (2018):

https://www.bacp.co.uk/media/3103/bacp-ethical-framework-for-the-counselling-professions-2018.pdf

ACC offers a confidential counselling service and adheres to an Equal Opportunities policy responding to applicants regardless of gender, disability, ethnicity, sexuality or belief.

ACC currently has 28 counsellors working in an open-ended way (see the latest news from the Head of Service), receiving regular supervision in seven groups. All counsellors are qualified or are in the later stages of their training; all supervisors are professionally qualified.

ACC offers individual counselling to any adult, aged 18 and above, who is assessed to benefit from the process and each client is asked to make a contribution which is calculated upon income... no one will be turned away because they cannot afford to pay.

The office is open to enquiries Monday to Friday 10am to 12 noon - but it is always possible to leave a message outside of these times.

The counselling takes place at Dove Lodge in the centre of Littlehampton. The regular weekly sessions are held by mutual arrangement between the client and counsellor - this will usually be 9am - 5pm during the day, but we are also able to offer some evening (5pm - 8pm) and Saturday morning appointments. Counselling is open-ended. Its duration is reviewed in discussion with your therapist during the work. The initial contract is for up to 18 sessions, which may be extended to up to a year if all parties agree it is worthwhile.

Note:  update 10/2/2018

ACC has received good feedback from its clients - with its emphasis on sound, supervised practice. All clients attend for an initial assessment session and are allocated to an appropriate counsellor as soon as availability permits - sometimes there is a waiting list and so it is recommended that applicants offer as wide an availability as possible.

* ACC frequently needs to recruit suitable volunteers who can staff our very busy office for two hours or more per week to respond to calls to our service - which operates from 10.00.a.m. to midday on weekdays.

We are very pleased to interview qualified counsellors who are able to volunteer three hours each week (and receive free professional supervision, modest expenses, insurance cover, and subsidised cpd workshops) - they may be pursuing accreditation.

A small number of our counsellors are in the process of achieving their Diploma qualification. Individuals in training may apply at any time for short-listing for interviews - these occur intermittently as the need arises; criteria include having completed the first year of diploma training, attending a qualified training course, previous experience, personal therapy, living near to Littlehampton, able to commit to a minimum of three years, and meet monthly costs of £25.

Please contact us if you would like more information.
